Remuneration: SCHADS Award pay level based on experience

About the Role

The role of the support worker is to provide exceptional service whilst supporting The Diverse Collective's Participants to meet their NDIS and other personal goals. 

Including but not limited to: 

- Providing support in day-to-day living, personal care, ensuring that they have maximum opportunity for developing the skills they need to achieve their goals. 

- Strong advocacy for choice and control in all aspects of a Participants life and ensuring opportunities for participation in matters relating to the home, as well as facilitating access to community, social and civic activities when the Participant is ready.

- Carrying out and promoting positive routines/duties/activities in a cooperative respectful, patient and flexible manner.

- Actively listening to experiences which are meaningful and purposeful to our Participants and being able to respond appropriately.

- Facilitate community inclusion and participation to establish and maintain relationships and interests in the community

- Carry out your duties with a non-judgmental mindset 

- You will need to be able to travel a minimum of 30 minutes and be able to travel in between shifts and locations when required. 

- Immediate start available 

You will need to have:

- Confidence in your ability to de-escalate situations when behaviours of concern arise 

- Understanding of Restrictive Practice & Incident Reporting 

- Detailed understanding of NDIS Code of Conduct

- Able to assess and provide quick and responsible resolutions that are not reactive 

- Effective listening skills and ability to communicate effeciently

- Prior experience supporting people living with Psychosocial Disability is highly regarded

- A Mental Health, Community Services or other Disability qualification (Cert III or higher) 

- NDIS Workers Screening Card or ability to quickly acquire one 

- A clean and tidy, road safe vehicle with comprehensive car insurance 

- The capacity to work flexible hours on a roster system, including weekends, early mornings and nights shifts 

- Literacy in computers and systems and the initiative to troubleshoot when required

- A strong work ethic, a positive outlook and the ability to remain calm and professional while under pressure; and 

- A caring and empathetic nature. 

Desired skills/attributes:

- Lived/work experience with Psychosocial Disabilities 

- History of being a reliable and consistent worker

- Driven by your passion for caring for others 

- Love a challenge and committed to continued learning 

- Have an open mind that is curious not critical 

- A comprehensive understanding of the NDIS Framework 

- Appreciate and understand diversity and its value within people and communities.
